Today\u2019s Devotional<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I still remember walking through a crowded street in a foreign city for the first time\u2014thousands of faces passing by, each with their own story. I felt small and insignificant. How could God possibly love all these people?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jonah wrestled with that same question. Sent by God to warn Nineveh\u2014a violent, enemy city\u2014he couldn\u2019t understand how the Lord could care for people so cruel. When the Ninevites repented and God spared them, Jonah grew furious. He wanted justice, not mercy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

But God used a simple plant to teach Jonah about His heart. When the plant died, Jonah grieved his lost shade\u2014yet he couldn\u2019t grieve for a city full of lost souls. God\u2019s gentle question exposed the prophet\u2019s narrow compassion: \u201cYou cared about the plant\u2026 shouldn\u2019t I care about this city?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God\u2019s love reaches further than our comfort zones. He doesn\u2019t divide the world into \u201cus\u201d and \u201cthem.\u201d The same love that saved Jonah from the sea reached out to save his enemies. That\u2019s the power of divine compassion\u2014it extends even to those we find hardest to love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When we see people through God\u2019s eyes, the walls of resentment and pride begin to fall. His love isn\u2019t limited by our preferences\u2014it overflows to all creation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Teach me to see others through Your eyes and to reflect Your grace wherever I go.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jonah\u2019s anger revealed how easily we can accept God\u2019s mercy for ourselves but resist it for others. The book ends with God\u2019s open question\u2014an invitation for every reader to share His heart for all people, not just those like us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
