Day 15 — Light in the Darkness

Scripture:

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” — John 8:12

A person holding a lit candle stands on a path leading to a glowing lighthouse under dramatic, cloudy skies with rays of light breaking through. The scene is warm and serene, with golden illumination.

Today’s Devotional

Darkness has a way of distorting things.

In moments of confusion, fear, or pain, it’s easy to lose direction—to wonder which way is forward.

But when Jesus declares, “I am the light of the world,” He’s not just offering illumination; He’s offering Himself.

Light reveals truth.

It exposes lies, guides our steps, and brings warmth to places once cold.

When we follow Jesus, His presence cuts through the shadows of doubt and despair.

Even when circumstances don’t change right away, His light changes how we see them.

You may not always understand what God is doing, but if you keep your eyes on Christ, you will never be lost.

His light doesn’t just chase away darkness—it transforms it into testimony.

Reflect & Pray

Reflect:

Where do you sense darkness in your life right now—fear, confusion, or uncertainty?

How might you invite Jesus’ light into that space today?

Pray:

Jesus, be my light when I can’t see the way forward.

Dispel my fears and guide me with Your truth.

Help me walk in Your presence so that others might see Your light through me. Amen.

Today’s Insight

In John 8, Jesus speaks these words during the Festival of Tabernacles—a celebration where lamps illuminated Jerusalem to symbolize God’s guidance through the wilderness.

By calling Himself the light of the world, Jesus reveals that He is the fulfillment of that promise—God’s eternal presence among His people.

His light isn’t confined to temples or festivals; it dwells in the hearts of those who follow Him.

And no darkness—no failure, no fear—can overcome it.
