Day 6 — Saying “Yes” to God

Scripture:

“When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, ‘Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.’

Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.’” — Luke 5:4–5

Today’s Devotional

Peter was tired.

He had spent the entire night fishing with nothing to show for it—just empty nets and weary hands. Then Jesus, a carpenter by trade, told him to try again. From a human perspective, it made no sense. The timing was wrong, the place was wrong, and Peter already knew the outcome—or so he thought.

Yet in that moment, Peter chose to obey: “Because You say so.”

That small decision opened the door to a miracle so large their nets nearly broke.

Faith often begins with obedience that doesn’t make sense. God calls us to trust Him beyond logic, reputation, or comfort. Sometimes His greatest blessings wait on the other side of our “yes.”

When we release control, we make space for divine abundance.

Peter’s simple act of surrender not only filled his boat—it changed his life’s direction forever.

Reflect & Pray

Reflect:

What “deep water” is God calling you into right now?

Where might He be asking you to trust His word over your understanding?

Pray:

Lord, give me the courage to say “yes” even when I don’t understand.

Teach me to trust Your voice above my doubts and to obey with a willing heart.

Help me see that every step of surrender leads me closer to You. Amen.

Today’s Insight

Peter’s obedience in Luke 5 wasn’t blind—it was rooted in relationship.

He had just listened to Jesus teach from his boat, and that encounter stirred faith within him.

Obedience is often the bridge between hearing God’s word and witnessing His power.

When Peter said “yes,” his failure turned into fruitfulness—a pattern God still repeats in the lives of those who trust Him.
