Scripture:
“How long, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me? How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and day after day have sorrow in my heart?” — Psalm 13:1–2

Today’s Devotional
There was a season in my life when every prayer felt like it hit the ceiling.
I kept asking, “God, are You still listening?” Days turned into weeks, and silence became heavy. I still went to church, still opened my Bible—but my heart felt hollow.
King David once felt that same ache. In Psalm 13, he cried out again and again, “How long, Lord?” Four times he repeats the question—like a heartbeat of disappointment. Yet, what’s powerful about this psalm isn’t just David’s pain; it’s his honesty. He doesn’t hide his doubt. He brings it to God.
Silence doesn’t mean absence. God’s quiet seasons often shape the deepest roots of faith. When we can’t feel His presence, He’s teaching us to trust His character, not our emotions. David ends the psalm with a decision: “But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.”
Faith doesn’t always shout—it sometimes whispers, “I still believe.”
And that whisper, offered through tears, is a song of worship heaven never ignores.
Reflect & Pray
Reflect:
Have you ever mistaken God’s silence for His absence?
What helps you keep trusting when answers don’t come quickly?
Pray:
Father, even when I can’t hear You, help me trust that You are near.
Teach me to rest in Your love when my heart feels alone.
Today’s Insight
The structure of Psalm 13 moves from despair (“How long?”) to petition (“Look on me and answer”) to praise (“I will sing the Lord’s praise”).
David models a spiritual rhythm we can follow—bring your pain honestly, ask boldly, and choose to trust even before you see the outcome.
